Barrettine's Armourflex Pure & Natural Tung Oil is a completely natural, additive-free oil, ideal for food-safe surfaces like kitchen worktops, children’s toys, and furniture. Pressed from the seeds of the Chinese Tung tree, this wood oil is undiluted by solvents or additives. It will provide a nourishing treatment that richly enhances the natural colour of bare wood and dries to a matt finish. Armourflex Pure & Natural Tung Oil offers excellent water and stain resistance, adapting to the wood’s natural movement.

FINISHES:
Ensure wood is clean and dry. For best results on bare wood, thin the first coat by diluting 50% with white spirit to ensure good absorption. To ensure the whole process is 100% plant based, thin first coat with Genuine Turpentine rather than white spirit. Allow this to penetrate the wood for 20-30 minutes, then wipe away any excess with a lint-free cloth. For subsequent coats, apply the undiluted oil. Whether the project is indoors or outdoors, 3-4 coats are required overall. As an all-natural product with no added drying agents, allow 1-3 days between coats for optimal results.
Armourflex Pure Tung Oil provides a natural, low-sheen finish. To achieve a refined look, lightly buff the dried surface with very fine (000) grade wire wool.
Armourflex Pure Tung Oil doesn’t contain any added drying agents or thinning agents. Tung oil typically requires 1-3 days to dry between coats, depending on factors like temperature, humidity, and wood type. It is a slow-drying oil, so allowing ample time between coats is essential for proper curing. For best results, the final finish may need up to 7-10 days to fully cure, achieving its optimal hardness and water resistance.
Armourflex Pure Tung Oil enhances the natural beauty of wood by deepening its colour and highlighting its grain. It typically adds a rich, warm tone with a golden to amber hue. This colour change is more pronounced on lighter woods, where Tung oil can give a subtle darkening effect, while darker woods experience more depth and richness without significant colour shift. Always test an inconspicuous area before starting any project to check product suitability, compatibility and final dry colour.
Clean equipment with Barrettine White Spirit. Replace cap firmly. Store between 5-30°C, away from heat and flames. Immediately wash all soiled cloths with soapy water and dispose of safely outside the house.
